Our apprenticeship programmes

At Mediahuis Aachen we offer two apprenticeship programmes which will prepare you to set foot into the media business or the business of event organisation. The apprenticeship programmes vary from 2,5 - 3 years in training in which you will have theoretical courses and practical work to do.

Apprenticeship as a media clerk in print and digital (m/f/d)

What you can expect

During your training as a media clerk (m/f/d), you will pass through all the commercial departments in our company and gain a comprehensive insight into the marketing and sales of our daily newspaper. You will also familiarise yourself with the areas of finance, human resources and logistics in order to understand the interaction of all departments and processes in a modern media company.

You will receive the theoretical input for your training at the Joseph-DuMont vocational college in Cologne, which you will attend two days a week. The curriculum includes publishing marketing and media management, management and control, economic and social processes and German.

 

Your profile

Media affinity and strong communication skills: The most important thing is that you are interested in media, enjoy working with people and have strong communication skills and a willingness to communicate.
Flexibility and independence: You enjoy getting involved in new situations and tasks and solving them independently.
School and experience: Ideally, you have your (technical) A-levels or a qualified intermediate school-leaving certificate in your pocket and have good grades, especially in German, maths and English. You may also have already completed an internship or two, been involved in voluntary work or gained experience in a part-time job.

What we offer you

Varied training: Every three to six months, you will gain an insight into a new department and become a true media specialist. You will be part of the team from day one and will be able to take on independent tasks and projects.
Personal support: At the start of your training, a trainee buddy will help you find your feet. There is a contact person in each department who will look after you during your assignment and your trainer from the HR department will always have an open ear for you.
Modern working conditions: We provide you with everything you need to work in our state-of-the-art open office on the Medienhaus campus. You can reach us thanks to good public transport connections. If you are travelling by car, there is also free parking available.

Apprenticeship as an event organiser (m/f/d)

What you can expect

During your training as an event management assistant (m/f/d), you will learn how to plan, organise and implement events and trade fairs. You will develop event concepts, acquire and support customers and keep an eye on the timeline and costs. You will be part of our trade fair and event team, which has been passionately designing and realising a wide variety of event formats for over 30 years. These include the Euregio Business Show, the Regio wedding fairs, property fairs and much more.

You will receive the theoretical input for your training at the Joseph-DuMont vocational college in Cologne, which you will attend two days a week. The curriculum includes event management, service processes, management and control, data processing and German.

Your profile

Organisational talent: The most important thing is that you enjoy working together in a team on an event to make it an unforgettable experience for the visitor. You keep an overview of your tasks and stay calm even in hectic times.
Flexibility and service-orientation: You can always adapt to new situations and tasks and solve them independently and in a customer-oriented manner.
School and experience: Ideally, you have your (technical) high school diploma or a qualified secondary school leaving certificate in your pocket and have good grades, especially in German, maths and English. You may also have already completed an internship or two, been involved in voluntary work or gained experience in a part-time job.
